Trifolder

July 9, 2011

I’ve been drawing on this folder since I was about 5. There are several increasingly-less-hideous layers of ‘art’ on it, the most recent being the last, most important, and only good layer.

The cover: a Dingbot from Girl Genius.

The back: Saix from Kingdom Hearts being contemplative in the moon. /fandom reference here

The inside flap: Johnny from JtHM. Extremely ooc, he’s either asleep or comatose. I was going to put floorboards in outside the frame but then laziness took over.

So. Much. Sharpie. *ded*

Tinder’s Candle

December 9, 2010

I can do charcoal too!
This is my first foray into preserving my charcoal drawings with a fixative.
Warning: vapor may cause flash fire. Contains: acetone, petroleum distillates, xylene.
and y’wonder why art-people are all crazy?
(picky after the break- I scanned it at about a bazillion dpi so it might take a while to load)

spent an absolutely obscene amount of time shading and blending this… Like how it came out though!

also need to learn how to work within the confines of my giant sketchbook. I’ve gotten used to working big now and it’s getting absurd.

…or why I don’t have a 99% in the class (discounting that blasted research paper).

oh

I was writing some other post. The picture I have for this one doesn’t match the text at all. I guess I’ll make two posts absurdly  early in the mornin’.

and these guys who are like the erasersquid’s siblings!

Some of the latter ones are not in their original orientation and they look cooler that way.

You’re getting a whole bunch of art posts because I am spending my spring break off doing collegey things and really haven’t done much in the way of neat things. Somehow I think that state will persist much longer than I wish it too.

Evil Sorcerer Nails

February 10, 2010

Y’know how the Evil Sorcerer *always* has those really weird claw like nails? I wanted to see if normal people could do that.

Turns out, I can, but I’m also not normal people.

Having nails like

look! a drawing

is really annoying and sometimes dangerous. The first thing is that it takes some serious obsessing with a nailfile for a week or three to get pointy nails. I managed to keep all my nails except the thumbnail from breaking during this (the thumbnail was already broken when I started). Having pointy nails is somewhat like having really long fake nails, only with points on the end so it’s really hard to pick things up. Otoh, the points are small enough to be used as screwdrivers on my clarinet. They’re dangerous because they’re pointy and really really REALLY sharp. Like, I’ve sustained small puncture wounds during this experiment (and tetra hates the whole concept (sorry! it was for SCIENCE, I swear!)).

Here’s a couple other views, one of the damage to my thumbnail (which is kind of hard to see because it’s grown out a bit and been filed a lot) and the other is just kind of neat.

…yeps
