Fencing Jacket Pocket

October 2, 2010

So I have this jacket advertising that I am a member of the fencing team. I haven’t worn it much yet, but it does seem to be nice… BUT the inside pockets are not actually pockets- they’re the flaps from the outside pocket tacked to the inside. Why, oh why not do it right and make it a real pocket and save me the bother? But no, I have to break out the needle and thread and fix the pocket.

This is the not-stitched side being demonstrated by my very low contrast hand.

I’ve been trying to get a decent picture of the stitched pocket but everything is black so there is No Contrast for the camera to grab. Sigh. It’s not much to look at, just a neatish line of stitching down the side of pocket where the edge meets the pocket.

YaY another post about sword grips!
The grip in question belongs to tetra, as does the duct tape. And the (unpictured) sword.

tetra complained that her duct tape repair to her grip was beginning to get Sticky and Nasty from the adhesive so she gets the grip off my spare sword and I get a grip held together with dead/dying duct tape. The horrible picture is of my spare sword with tetra’s grip and my end nut. The adhesive on the duct tape appears to have eaten the rubber of the grip…

…I’m not even sure why this justified making a post. It’s so short and pointless…

Fencing Stuff

THE LAST THING YOU WERE EXPECTING FROM ME WAS A POST ABOUT SHOES especially under a title involving fencing

I swear, they’re related.

The Last Time I Bought Sketchers, which now strikes me as an awfully long time ago (has it really been that long?!), I got a pair of nice looking black and white ones that I didn’t wear much because I was wearing my old pair, which my mother eventually threw out because she “was embarrassed to be seen with [me] when [I] was wearing those shoes.” They weren’t /that/ bad… Time passes, my feet grow, and all of a sudden, I need a pair of sneakers for fencing. Woah. A vague memory of a pair of shoes surfaces and I check my closet for them. I find these shoes, but not one of their tongues…(my closet has a tongue now wut). Apparently one of them had a manufacturing defect that caused the tongue to come out. This, happily, caused the shoe to fit better (so I took the tongue on the left shoe out). And then I discovered that getting stabbed in the foot wasn’t so much fun anymore. What with Rockland coming up TOMORROW, I finally got around to doing something about this…
Design: two strips of duct tape with all the sticky sides inside, two duct tape tabs on one end to affix it to the shoe. One goes on the outside, as can be seen, and the other on the inside, as can’t be seen.
